About Charente-Maritime
Charente-Maritime is a great place to live in or visit!
We particularly love the area called the "Pays Royannais", which stretches along the Atlantic coast from the vast unspoilt beaches of the Côte Sauvage in the north, to the white cliffs of Meschers and the Gironde estuary in the south. But there are many other places of interest too; the towns of La Rochelle, Rochefort and Saintes being particularly well worth a visit.

Warm,
sunny summers and mild winters. The amount of sunshine, 2600 hours a year, is comparable to that on the côte d'Azur!

Beautiful scenery - unspoilt countryside and villages inland, fine examples of romanesque architecture, vineyards (for Pineau and Cognac), plus sandy beaches, pine forests and oyster beds on the coast.
